This leads to an inflammatory process, pain and limitation of mobility. The disease has a chronic course and periodic exacerbations. Excess urine salts accumulate and destroy various joints. The disease is difficult to cure, it takes time and patience. According to doctors, observing all the recommendations and purposes, the disease can either completely disappear or go into the stage of prolonged remission.

How to treat gout at home quickly and effectively

Gout is often called a royal disease. It affects the joints of people who abuse alcohol and harmful products, while leading a sedentary lifestyle. The first and main signs of this disease are nodes (tofus) on the joints, affecting the knees, toes and hands. This is the deposition of uric acid salts.

It is impossible to completely recover from gout on the toes or other areas, but by following the tips listed below, you can get rid of bouts of pain. Folk remedies over time have proven their effectiveness at home.

What is this disease

Gout is a form of joint disease that interferes with a normal life. The growths on the joints form deposits of uric acid – they can burst over time and white salt crystals can be seen through the skin. This disease is accompanied by frequent exacerbations with pain and severe inflammation.
The defeat occurs in the following places:

  • Finger phalanges
  • Elbow joint
  • I metatarsophalangeal joint
  • Spine (least likely)
  • Hip Joint
  • Damage to several joints at once (more often in women)

Gout is rarely diagnosed in adolescents and children – this is an age-related pathology. The first signs in men appear by the age of 40, in women after 50.

At the age of over 60, in 97 out of 100 patients this disease occurs, and in men, gout is much more common, since initially the level of uric acid in their body is much higher.

Causes and symptoms of the disease

If the kidneys are disturbed in the body, urate crystals in the form of uric acid salt are deposited in various tissues, forming growths and bumps on the fingers and toes (often on the big one).

The main factors provoking the appearance of this disease, for example:

  • binge eating;
  • eating a lot of salty, fatty and spicy;
  • alcohol abuse;
  • overwork;
  • low physical activity;
  • impaired renal function.

People with a healthy lifestyle have less risk of getting sick.
Symptoms of gout are as follows:

  • redness and sharp pain in one or two joints at once;
  • nodular neoplasms under the skin;
  • hypersensitivity when touching the articular bones.

The disease occurs when malnutrition occurs when a large number of foods with a high purine content enter the food, for example:

  • coffee;
  • cocoa;
  • tea;
  • high fat fish;
  • red meat;
  • mushrooms;
  • sharp cheeses;
  • by-products;
  • all legumes;
  • spinach and sorrel;
  • alcohol.

With excessive use of these products, the risk of metabolic disorders increases.

Gouty Arthritis in Traditional Medicine

Gouty arthritis or gout is a type of joint damage caused by the accumulation of crystals of uric acid salts in them, resulting in a destructive effect on soft, cartilage and bone tissues, which leads to inflammatory processes. Gouty arthritis can affect the elbow and knee joints, feet, hands, but more often it affects the toes.

The disease is more susceptible to men who have reached the age of 40-50 years, women can also experience the disease during and after menopause. In our material, we will consider the causes of the disease, symptoms and stages of its manifestation, as well as treatment at home.

Causes

The main risk factors for the development of gouty arthritis are distinguished:

  • genetic predisposition;
  • improper nutrition: the use of large quantities of meat, meat products and smoked meats, chocolate, coffee and strong tea, carbonated drinks, beer and other alcoholic beverages;
  • abuse of honey. drugs: diuretics, cytostatics, high pressure drugs;
  • the presence of concomitant diseases: heart failure, hemoblastosis, k >

Primary and secondary gouty arthritis are distinguished. Primary development in the presence of genetic defects and a decrease in the number of enzymes involved in the metabolism of purines. The factors provoking pathology can be:

  • unbalanced, monotonous, excess food;
  • sedentary lifestyle;
  • alcohol abuse.

Secondary – begins against the background of existing diseases, which include:

  • leukemia;
  • lymphomas
  • polycythemia;
  • psoriasis;
  • severe renal impairment.

Symptoms

The development of the disease is divided into three periods:

    Latent. This period is characterized by the absence of clinical manifestations. Even after physical exertion there is absolutely no discomfort. Diagnosis of the disease is possible only after conducting a clinical blood test for a high uric ac >

  • Chronic. During this period, pathology progresses despite the fact that acute periods give way to long remissions. The leading symptoms of exacerbation of gouty arthritis in this period are:
  1. A sharp rise in temperature.
  2. Sudden, jerking pain in the joint of the toe.
  3. Swelling, redness and hyperemia of the skin over the joint.
  4. An increase in the intensity of pain during flexion or extension of the joint.
  5. The appearance of small dense formations (tofuses) under the skin, which are determined by palpation.

The first attacks of the disease are short-term in nature, but always begin suddenly and most often at night. In most cases, the joint on the big toe becomes inflamed, less often on the big toes, knees, ankle or elbows. The affected joint swells, the skin turns red and becomes hot. A light touch on the joint causes severe pain.

Such symptoms of gouty foot arthritis (shown in the photo) last for 3-4 days and go away without treatment, as if nothing had happened. After some time, the pain also suddenly returns, and if at first the intervals between seizures last from 1 to 8 months, then the picture changes over time: seizures lengthen and the intervals shorten, and there comes a time when the pain becomes constant and chronic gouty arthritis.

With this course of the disease, articular cartilage is destroyed, and cavities filled with salt crystals form in adjacent bones. Salts can also be deposited under the skin, forming tofus nodules. A neglected disease can provoke the deposition of urate in the kidneys (urolithiasis) or pyelonephritis.

In order to avoid the transition of the disease into a chronic form and pathological processes in the kidneys, complex treatment is needed to improve the condition and avoid acute attacks.

An effective treatment for the disease is diet. The person suffering from the disease should exclude or limit the use of:

  • salt (up to 6 grams per day);

  • mushrooms;
  • spinach
  • cauliflower;
